Meet Conrad
Conrad Cable is a first-generation farmer from north Louisiana who knows what it means to work hard and live by his word. He’s running for Congress to fight for living wages, protect healthcare, and ensure no family in Louisiana struggles for survival.
Conrad grew up in the small town of Marion, where he learned that neighbors look out for each other and Southern hospitality wasn’t just a phrase, it was a way of life. His grandmother owned a cafe in Marion called “The Dairy Bar”, where Conrad’s mom learned about hard work and community. Frances Cable knows every family in town. During the summer breaks, Conrad’s dad, plus his aunt and uncle taught him how to grow food in the backyard garden.
Before 7:00 AM Conrad harvested tomatoes, squash, corn, and potatoes and packed them into bags with his mom. Together, they drove door to door delivering the produce to elderly neighbors who couldn’t make it to the store. These simple acts of service became defining moments in Conrad’s life. They taught him that dignity means helping your community thrive, and that no one should be left behind.
Those early experiences shaped his belief that leadership starts with empathy, and progress is measured in how well we take care of each other.
Conrad’s path to farming full time wasn’t easy. Conrad graduated from ULM in 2017. After losing his job during COVID, he and his brother poured everything into building a small farm in Union Parish. The first years were tough: crops failed and winters were lean enough to make him question if the farm could survive.
Instead of giving up, Conrad doubled down. He taught himself business practices, studied sustainable agriculture, and put in the long hours to rebuild stronger. What began as hardship became resilience, and what started as a farm became a mission to make his rural community healthier and more self-reliant.
Conrad’s political awakening came when he saw firsthand how political decisions harmed working families. He watched his public school close after local officials broke promises on funding. He experienced higher education cuts that left him without classes he needed. He saw his mother stay in a job she hated simply because it provided healthcare coverage. Even today, Conrad struggles to access affordable healthcare. And he watched as politicians gutted the programs that once gave communities a fair shot.
For Conrad, one Supreme Court ruling, Citizens United, was a breaking point. Allowing billionaires and corporate PACs to drown out the voices of regular people meant democracy itself was rigged. That’s why he decided to step up, not for power or prestige, but because working people deserve someone who can’t be bought.
In Congress, Conrad will fight for three core priorities:
Fair wages so every worker can live with dignity.
Healthcare families can count on, starting with protecting Medicare and Medicaid.
Food security for every community, because no child in Louisiana should go to bed hungry.
Conrad can’t be swayed by lobbyists or billionaires. He will take the grit he’s learned as a farmer and use it to fight in Washington. Not for the powerful, but for the people of Louisiana who raised him.
Conrad Cable is ready to take this fight to Washington, but he can’t do it alone. Together, we can ensure our government works for all families. Join us in building a better Louisiana.
